If you need to move RVAltCtrl to a different WiFi network, or its current network is gone and it needs to be reconnected to a new one, you'll first need to put it back into setup mode. There are two ways to do that, depending on whether you can already reach RVAltCtrl on your network or not.
Using the Physical Button
If you can't reach RVAltCtrl on your network at all, for example if it's stuck trying to connect to a network it can no longer reach, you can reset it directly at the device.
The reset button is a small recessed button just to the right of the main connector. You'll likely need a paperclip or other small pointed object to reach it, the same way you'd reset a router or press a phone's SIM tray.
- Make sure the device is powered on.
- Press and hold the button.
- The middle LED goes solid. Keep holding it down.
- After about 5 seconds, the LED switches from solid to a fast, steady blink. Once you see the fast blink, let go.
Letting go while the LED is fast-blinking clears RVAltCtrl's saved WiFi settings and reboots it into setup mode. See Status LEDs for more on what each of these blink patterns means, and what happens if you let go too early.
Using the WiFi Settings Page
If RVAltCtrl is already set up and you can reach it on your network, this is the easier option, no paperclip required.
Open RVAltCtrl in a browser and go to Settings → WiFi, then press Forget Network. This has the same effect as the physical button above, it clears the saved WiFi network and reboots RVAltCtrl into setup mode.
What Happens Next
Either way, RVAltCtrl reboots into Access Point mode, the same setup mode it's in the first time you power it up. From there, you have the same two options described in Getting Started for connecting it to a WiFi network again:
- Connect to it using a Bluetooth-capable browser, at https://my.rvaltctrl.com/setup, or
- Connect your phone, tablet, or computer directly to RVAltCtrl's own
RVAltCtrl-XXXXWiFi access point and set it up from there.
