Effective Date: August 1, 2026
RVAltCtrl was designed around a local-first approach that minimizes the personal information required to operate the product.
This Privacy Policy explains what information RVAltCtrl collects, how it is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you when using RVAltCtrl hardware, firmware, websites, cloud services, remote-access features, support services, and related services.
RVAltCtrl is provided by RVAltCtrl.com ("RVAltCtrl," "we," "us," or "our").
1. Privacy by Design
Normal operation of an RVAltCtrl device does not require a traditional RVAltCtrl user account or login profile.
The RVAltCtrl interface is primarily served directly by the device on your private local network. Many device functions therefore occur locally between your browser and your RVAltCtrl device rather than through RVAltCtrl's cloud servers.
RVAltCtrl does not require you to provide your name, email address, physical address, or a personal profile merely to access and operate the device locally.
Certain optional features, purchases, support requests, and cloud services require limited information as described below.
2. Device Check-In Service
RVAltCtrl devices periodically communicate with the RVAltCtrl cloud service. This check-in allows the cloud service to determine basic device status, support certain cloud functionality, assist with diagnostics and updates, and allow an owner to initiate optional remote-access features.
The check-in may include:
Device Identifier
A unique device identifier is used to associate the check-in with the appropriate RVAltCtrl device.
The device identifier is not a remote-access credential and does not by itself provide remote control of the RV.
A person who obtains a valid device identifier may be able to view the limited device status made available by the cloud service. Device identifiers should therefore not be unnecessarily published or shared.
Firmware Version
The currently installed firmware version may be retained to assist with support, diagnostics, identifying outdated firmware, and update management.
Only the current or most recently reported value is ordinarily needed rather than a historical record of firmware changes.
Device Uptime
The device may transmit the number of seconds since its most recent boot for operational diagnostics.
This value is currently processed when received but is not stored or otherwise used.
Friendly Name
A customer-configured device or RV name may be transmitted and stored so the device can be conveniently identified in customer and administrative interfaces.
Because this name is chosen by you, you should avoid entering personal information in the friendly-name field that you do not want transmitted to RVAltCtrl.
System Type
The device may report its configured RV control-system type, such as a compatible CZone or RV-C configuration.
The latest value may be retained so RVAltCtrl can provide appropriate device capabilities and configuration behavior.
RV Model or Configuration
The device may report its selected RV model or configuration.
The latest value may be retained to provide appropriate model-specific configuration and controls.
Private Local-Network IP Address
The device may report its private local-network IPv4 address.
This is used to provide convenient local-network access links and assist with support diagnostics.
A private LAN address generally identifies the device only within the customer's private network. RVAltCtrl does not use this information for advertising or user tracking.
Device Memory Information
The device may report total and currently available memory.
The latest values may be retained to help identify memory pressure, degradation, firmware problems, or other device-health issues.
3. What the Check-In Service Does Not Collect
The normal RVAltCtrl cloud check-in service does not collect or maintain historical RV operational telemetry such as:
- tank levels;
- interior temperatures;
- lighting states;
- pump states;
- climate-control settings;
- awning position;
- Bluetooth sensor readings;
- detailed equipment states;
- CAN bus traffic;
- RV-C or CZone message traffic; or
- similar operational information from the RV.
This information normally remains within the RV and the RVAltCtrl device.
RVAltCtrl's normal cloud check-in service does not provide RVAltCtrl personnel with access to this local operational information.
Access to information available through the device's remote interface requires a valid remote-access or support credential.
4. Internet Addresses and Security Logs
Like other Internet services, RVAltCtrl servers may receive technical information when devices or browsers communicate with them, including public IP addresses, connection timestamps, requested resources, and related connection or security information.
RVAltCtrl may retain this information for up to 90 days for purposes such as:
- protecting RVAltCtrl systems from attacks;
- detecting attempted unauthorized access;
- preventing abuse;
- enforcing rate limits;
- investigating security incidents; and
- troubleshooting service problems.
This information is not used for behavioral advertising.
5. Remote Access
Remote access to an RVAltCtrl device requires a separate credential generated or authorized by the device owner.
The unique device identifier alone is not sufficient to remotely access or control the RV.
For normal owner remote access, RVAltCtrl's cloud service does not store the owner's remote-access credential.
The cloud service may facilitate the connection, but the credential necessary to authorize access to the device is not retained by RVAltCtrl for normal owner remote access.
6. Optional Browser Storage of Remote-Access Credentials
For convenience, RVAltCtrl may give you the option to save a remote-access credential in your browser's local storage.
Choosing this option stores the credential in local browser data on the computer, phone, tablet, or other device you are using. It is not a mechanism for storing that credential in RVAltCtrl's cloud database.
You can remove the locally stored credential using the controls provided by RVAltCtrl.
You should not save a remote-access credential on a public, shared, or untrusted computer or device.
Browser storage used for RVAltCtrl application functionality is not used by RVAltCtrl for behavioral advertising or cross-site tracking.
7. Remote Support Access
RVAltCtrl support personnel do not have automatic or persistent access to your device.
If you request remote assistance, you may choose to generate a support credential from the RVAltCtrl device's local interface and explicitly provide that credential to RVAltCtrl.
You choose whether the credential is valid for:
- 7 days;
- 30 days; or
- 90 days.
The interface warns you that providing the credential gives authorized RVAltCtrl support personnel access to the device for the selected period.
Support connections are manually initiated by authorized support personnel. RVAltCtrl does not automatically or continuously connect to your RV using a stored support credential.
While a support credential is valid, authorized support personnel may be able to view information and use controls available through the device's remote interface for purposes of providing support.
You can revoke a support credential at any time from the RVAltCtrl device's local interface. Once revoked, the device will reject future attempts to use that credential.
Because revocation occurs locally on the RVAltCtrl device, a copy of a revoked credential may remain in RVAltCtrl's support system until it is manually removed or reaches its expiration date. It cannot be used to access the device after the device has revoked it.
Support credentials are automatically deleted from RVAltCtrl systems after expiration.
8. Payments and Stripe
RVAltCtrl uses Stripe to process payments and manage certain subscriptions.
Payment-card and other payment information submitted through Stripe is handled according to Stripe's own terms and privacy practices.
RVAltCtrl may receive and store an email address associated with your Stripe subscription. We use this address as necessary to identify your subscription and provide you with access to subscription-management functions.
RVAltCtrl does not use a subscription email address for advertising or marketing unless you separately choose to receive such communications.
Stripe may independently collect and process information necessary to provide its payment and subscription services. You should review the Stripe Privacy Policy for information about Stripe's data practices.
9. Support and Feedback Information
If you submit a support request, feedback, bug report, feature suggestion, sensor suggestion, or other communication, you may choose to provide contact information such as an email address.
Providing contact information through these channels is optional unless it is necessary for us to respond to a particular request.
Information you submit may be used to:
- respond to you;
- investigate reported problems;
- provide technical support;
- evaluate feature or product suggestions;
- improve RVAltCtrl; and
- maintain an appropriate record of the support or feedback request.
Please do not include personal or sensitive information that is unnecessary for us to address your request.
10. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
RVAltCtrl does not currently use third-party analytics services to track how individual customers use RVAltCtrl.
RVAltCtrl does not use:
- behavioral advertising;
- advertising tracking pixels;
- cross-site tracking for advertising purposes; or
- customer information to build advertising profiles.
RVAltCtrl does not sell personal information for advertising purposes.
If these practices materially change, this Privacy Policy will be updated before the new practices are implemented where required by applicable law.
11. How We Use Information
Information collected by RVAltCtrl may be used as necessary to:
- operate RVAltCtrl cloud services;
- identify and display device status;
- provide remote-access functionality;
- provide customer-authorized remote support;
- manage subscriptions and purchased features;
- provide technical support;
- diagnose device or firmware problems;
- manage firmware compatibility and updates;
- protect our systems against attacks, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;

- improve RVAltCtrl products and services; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
We seek to limit collection to information reasonably necessary for these purposes.
12. How We Share Information
RVAltCtrl does not sell customer information.
We may disclose limited information to service providers when reasonably necessary for them to provide services on our behalf, such as payment processing, infrastructure hosting, or other operational services.
Service providers receive only the information reasonably necessary for their role and process information according to their own applicable contractual and legal obligations.
We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, a valid legal process, or a lawful government request; protect the security or integrity of RVAltCtrl; investigate fraud or abuse; or protect the rights, safety, or property of RVAltCtrl, our customers, or others.
If the RVAltCtrl business or relevant assets are sold, merged, reorganized, or transferred, information associated with operating the service may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
13. Data Retention
RVAltCtrl attempts to retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
In particular:
- Internet and server security logs may be retained for up to 90 days.
- Device check-in information identified as a latest-value field may be replaced when the device reports a newer value.
- Device uptime received through the current check-in implementation is not stored.
- Owner remote-access credentials are not stored in the RVAltCtrl cloud service.
- Support credentials are retained for their authorized period and automatically deleted after expiration.
- A revoked support credential may remain stored until manually removed or until its expiration date, but revocation prevents the credential from being used to access the device.
- Subscription information may be retained as necessary to administer purchases, subscriptions, accounting, disputes, and legal obligations.
- Support and feedback communications may be retained as reasonably necessary to resolve requests, maintain support records, and improve the product.
We may retain information for a longer period when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, investigate abuse, or protect our legal rights.
14. Data Security
RVAltCtrl uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information and access to its systems.
These safeguards include limiting the information collected, separating device identification from remote-access authorization, using owner-generated credentials for remote access, limiting support access to explicitly authorized credentials, and applying security controls such as rate limiting to Internet-facing services.
However, no Internet-connected service, computer system, browser, network, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for protecting your local network, devices, browsers, and RVAltCtrl access credentials.
15. Device IDs and Credentials
A device identifier and a remote-access credential serve different purposes.
A device identifier allows RVAltCtrl cloud services to identify a particular device and may allow someone possessing that identifier to view limited cloud status.
A remote-access credential provides authorization to access the device remotely.
You should protect both from unnecessary disclosure, but remote-access and support credentials should be treated as confidential security credentials.
If you believe a credential has been disclosed to someone who should not have access, revoke or replace it using the controls available through your RVAltCtrl device.
16. Children's Privacy
RVAltCtrl is an RV monitoring and control product intended for use by adults.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child in circumstances prohibited by applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
17. United States Operations
RVAltCtrl is currently offered and supported in the United States.
Our services and information-processing practices are designed primarily for customers located in the United States.
18. Your Choices
Depending on how you use RVAltCtrl, you can control much of the information associated with the product directly.
For example, you can:
- choose the friendly name assigned to your device;
